Position Summary:

The Kitchen Manager provides direction and support for the kitchen staff.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Assist with planning of all community-wide functions that occur, which include but are not limited to; holiday parties, fundraisers, variety shows, dances, and other events as needed.
  • Supervise preparations for events to include preparation of food and beverages, ballroom setup, and cleanup after the event.
  • Ensure compliance with health department regulations.
  • Must be creative in the kitchen and have the ability to prepare meals for a large number of people.
  • Work with vendors and contractors for the kitchen, to keep kitchen equipment serviced and properly maintained.
  • Organize and review inventory in the kitchen, place supply orders weekly or as needed. May need to drive to pick up kitchen supplies when inventory is not available from vendors.
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Able to lead and motivate people, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to effectively manage and operate within budget.
  • Self-starter; able to carry out diverse duties with minimal supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently, make decisions, and resolve conflicts.
  • Pleasant, professional, and personable manner-ability to exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests and residents.
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Must have the ability to oversee and manage seasonal workers and volunteers
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Frequent contact with the guests, residents of the community, and the Resort Managers.
  • Assist the Activities Director as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ hospitality experience, food service preferred
  • Must be available to work a varied and flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, as required
  • Current or must acquire Arizona Food Handlers Card
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interaction skills with both internal and external customers
  • Proactive and high energy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical Activities include: Lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching overhead.
  • Lifting requirements: Up to 20 lbs.
  • Working Conditions: Work in a fast-paced environment and able to stay calm during these conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
