PURPOSE:
The instructor will provide one-on-one studio instruction to undergraduate music majors and non-majors. The appointment is for the Fall 2025 semester, with the possibility of renewal for Spring 2026, contingent upon performance and enrollment. The Fine Arts Division at Bethany College includes programs in Music and Art. The division consists of six full-time faculty members who collaborate to provide a supportive and rigorous educational environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach private French horn lessons to assigned students (approximately 3–6 students per semester).
- Prepare students for:
- Degree recitals
- Departmental recitals
- Masterclasses
- End-of-semester performance juries
- Attend student juries and offer performance feedback.
- Communicate regularly with music faculty and division leadership regarding student progress and instructional planning.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field.
- Preferred: Master of Music (MM) degree in performance or pedagogy; prior experience teaching applied lessons at the college level.
- Good communication skills, organized, and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community-at-large.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results-oriented.
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate students.
- Regular attendance required
COMPUTER COMPETENCIES:
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Basic personal computer operation
- Willingness to adapt to a changing technology environment, i.e. updates, security, and new versions
- Ability to use multiple Internet browsers
- Competent in email and document management
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work performed indoors is generally with ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.

Presser Hall, Bethany College Campus – Lindsborg, Kansas
