Job Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist at Dameron Hospital provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to patients experiencing communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing disorders. This role supports recovery and functional improvement through individualized, evidence-based interventions. The Speech-Language Pathologist adheres to applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency guidelines and serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team. This is a non-union position.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program: Required
- Minimum of two years experience in a hospital or healthcare setting: Preferred
Licenses & Certifications:
- Current Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license issued by the State of California: Required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA): Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA): Required
Essential Functions
- Reviews relevant patient medical information to support clinical decision-making before and during treatment
- Conducts and documents comprehensive assessments for communication, cognitive-linguistic, voice, and swallowing function
- Develops and implements individualized treatment plans aligned with patient goals and physician orders
- Monitors patient progress, adjusts interventions as needed, and documents all care in accordance with hospital policy
- Instructs and directs support staff and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants in accordance with national and state practice regulations
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and discharge preparation
- Contributes to data collection and quality outcomes initiatives within the department
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Physical Therapy Management
