SENIOR EXPERT BILLING COORDINATOR (HYBRID – SAN FRANCISCO, LOS ANGELES OR SILICON VALLEY)

The Senior Expert Billing Coordinator will have primary responsibility for providing daily support to assigned Experts to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, while maintaining a high level of sensitivity and discretion. This role will involve verifying billing agreements, reviewing and formatting invoices, and collaborating with Experts, case managers, and finance team members to resolve complex billing arrangements and payment terms. In addition to being part of the Expert Billing Team, you will also have opportunities to work closely with the Expert Development team to maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of the firm's strategy around Expert engagement.

How You'll Help Our Team Succeed

  • Provides daily support to assigned Experts to ensure invoices are accurate and are processed timely to meet strict monthly deadlines.
  • Reviews and formats Expert’s invoices based on guidelines and established procedures for capturing billing details and terms.
  • Works closely with Experts and responsible case managers to review and revise invoices, with close attention to established terms.
  • Applies critical thinking when generating and reviewing invoices and following up with applicable parties with any questions.
  • Acts as the point of contact for Experts as it pertains to their billing arrangements and payment requirements, always practicing a high level of sensitivity and discretion in written and verbal communication.
  • Takes the lead on collaborating and communicating with assigned Experts, responsible case managers and other finance team members to research, resolve and implement complex Expert billing arrangements or payment terms.

What You'll Need To Be Successful

  • 3+ years of experience that demonstrates increasing capability and responsibility; professional services experience preferred.
  • The desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and the firm.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to learn the firm’s financial and operational functions.
  • The mindset to provide superior service.
  • Direct experience in external client management or a high touch customer service-related role.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and process flow.
  • Ability to report data accurately and understand how to reconcile data against source documents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills and knowledge of specialized office programs, including strong proficiency within Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with billing software; CMS/Aderant or Elite is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.

Cornerstone Research is offering a competitive market base salary for this position. A job offer and its corresponding salary will depend on one’s geographic location, and how closely a candidate’s skills, experience and education match the requirements for the role. At Cornerstone Research, we believe compensation is more than just a base salary. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes an annual performance bonus and comprehensive benefits including a variety of healthcare plans, paid time off, transit subsidy, wellness benefits and retirement plan contributions.

Los Angeles: $63,900 – $90,400

San Francisco: $69,700 – $98,600

Silicon Valley: $70,900 – $100,300
