UCT is seeking an experienced Chem Film and Screen Printing Specialist IV to join our team in Chandler, AZ. As a critical member of our production process, you will be responsible for applying chemical conversion coatings to aluminum parts and frames, as well as screen printing labels onto the metal frames. The ideal candidate will have experience in both chem film and screen printing processes, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet customer specifications and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities


Chem Film Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process parts per work orders or instructions on the Chem-film (chromate) production line.
  • Apply plating solutions and chemicals to specifications to achieve desired plating thickness, coverage, and finish.
  • Identify and address non-conformities or quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain plating equipment and tanks in good working condition through cleaning and calibration activities.
  • Handle plating chemicals, solutions, and waste materials in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper safety precautions when working with hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Complete production logs, batch records, and inspection reports to track process performance and product traceability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and other operational issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.


Screen Printing Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain screen printing equipment, including screens, inks, and printing presses.
  • Set up and operate screen printing presses to print labels onto metal frames.
  • Ensure accurate registration and color consistency across prints.
  • Monitor and control ink viscosity, temperature, and curing processes to achieve optimal print quality.
  • Troubleshoot printing issues, such as ink smudging, color shifting, or registration problems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production team to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in chem film and screen printing processes.
  • Knowledge of processes for sheet metal/CNC machined products, such as anodizing, zinc, and chromate processes.
  • Familiarity with racking, un-racking, drying, wrapping, and packaging sheet metal/CNC machined parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • OSHA certification for hazardous materials handling and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with quality standards (ISO9001/AS9100)
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.


Desired Experience

  • Experience with chemical conversion coatings, including chromate and non-chromate processes.
  • Knowledge of screen printing techniques, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of printing presses.
  • Familiarity with ink characteristics, including viscosity, color, and curing properties.
  • Experience with quality control measures, including inspection and testing of printed labels.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to chem film and screen printing processes.
