Addison Group's client is looking for a Benefits Specialist to join their team in the Herndon, VA area! As a Benefits Specialist, this individual will work with the Benefits Manager to provide full Benefits lifecycle support to employees, managers, and leadership. This individual will be responsible for assisting the Benefits Manager with administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and disability programs, leave management programs such as FMLA, short- and long-term disability and 401(k) plans, including employee deferrals, employer match and loan maintenance.

Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive support for the administration of employee benefit programs, including health and welfare, life and disability, leave of absence (FMLA/ADA/STD/LTD), and retirement plans. Assists with open enrollment, benefit enrollments, life event changes, and responds to employee inquiries. Collaborates with the Benefits Manager to ensure accurate eligibility determinations, vendor coordination, payroll integration, and timely claim resolution.
- Supports the development and implementation of new benefit offerings and employee resources, ensuring all materials are easy to understand and accessible. Maintains up-to-date benefits documentation, policies, and administrative procedures. Participates in employee onboarding by guiding new hires through benefits enrollment and orientation.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Keeps abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in HR and benefits administration. Acts as a liaison between HR and accounting for benefits-related financial matters such as invoicing and account setups.
- Oversees 401(k) deferrals, employer match processing, and loan tracking. Maintains accurate benefit records in the HRIS/UKG system, tracks premium payments from retirees, and prepares and updates benefit plan binders and audit procedures. Supports internal and external audits, including retirement plan audits.
- This role requires discretion, confidentiality, and flexibility as responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Human Resources, or related area
- 2-3+ years' of experience in Benefits Administration
- At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office products. Must be proficient using Excel (V-Lookups with an understanding of importing/exports data from Pivot Table
- UKG highly preferred. Experience with Federal & State employment laws compliance.
- Knowledge of analysis and reporting tools (BI/Dashboard).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
