Director of Accounting and FP&A


SUMMARY: This leadership role is responsible for driving financial planning and analysis, leading accounting operations, and providing strategic insight to the executive team. This position also involves working closely with the ownership group's Finance team to ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. Experience with project-based equipment manufacturing or construction is highly desirable.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead development and execution of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, and variances; deliver insights to drive business performance.
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and KPIs.
  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, inventory, and cost accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Support fundraising activities, including investor presentations, data room preparation, and deal management.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and insurance providers.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with business strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance/accounting team


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position manages a Sr. Accountant and the relationship with a virtual CFO and will provide direction to other groups based on circumstances or project.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in investor engagement and due diligence processes
  • Experience in project-based equipment manufacturing or construction environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High integrity, professionalism, and ability to influence across all levels
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial modeling, and cost accounting
  • Proven success in FP&A, accounting operations, and financial reporting

SALARY RANGE: $150,000– 170,000 per year
