Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience at Trauma Level 1 (within the past year)
- Certifications (Required): BLS, ACLS, TNCC or ATCN, PALS or ENPC
- Testing: Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (max 2 attempts)
- Orientation: Includes a Pass/Fail Simulation Lab on Day 1. Failure results in 6-month DNU (Do Not Use)
- Callouts: 2-3 days floor-specific orientation provided
Unit Details:
- Support Staff: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, Paramedics (IVs, fluids, discharges), CNAs (tech duties)
- Common Cases: Trauma (MVA, GSW, blunt/piercing injuries), strokes, chest pain, conscious sedation, OB, psych holds, cardioversions
- Pediatric Volume: 11% (patients under 15 stabilized and transferred)
- Floating: Required between Gilbert and Chandler ERs
- Additional: High-acuity Level 1 Trauma; 80,000 ER visits/year
Facility Services:
- Certified Stroke & Chest Pain Center
- 24/7 Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, and Physician Coverage
- Dedicated ER Pharmacist available 5 days/week
- Lab draws primarily done by lab (unless central line access required)
