Position: Structural Steel Detail Assistant
Salary: $70k DOE
Location: Oakdale, CA. *Must be able to start/interview onsite.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 3:45 pm
Job Description: Responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of structural steel fabrication and erection drawings, ensuring they meet the required design specifications, codes, and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of steel construction, fabrication processes, and erection techniques.
Job Duties:
- Review Structural Steel Drawings: Analyze and review detailed structural steel fabrication and erection drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and conformity to project specifications and design requirements.
- Compliance Check: Ensure that all drawings comply with local building codes, industry standards (e.g., AISC, AWS), and project-specific requirements.
- Coordination with Design and Engineering Teams: Collaborate with structural engineers, drafters, project managers, and fabrication teams to resolve discrepancies, design conflicts, or ambiguities in the drawings.
- Review Material Specifications: Verify that material quantities, grades, sizes, and specifications are correctly indicated on the drawings and are in line with project requirements.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality control checks to ensure the integrity of the design and fabrication, identifying potential issues such as incorrect dimensions, structural weaknesses, or omissions.
- Resolve Issues: Address and document any design errors, omissions, or discrepancies and provide recommendations for corrections.
- Constructability Analysis: Perform constructability reviews to ensure that the design is feasible for fabrication, transport, and field erection.
- Document Control: Ensure proper organization and storage of all drawings, revisions, and supporting documentation.
- Preparation of Reports: Provide regular feedback, reports, and recommendations to senior management and project teams regarding the status of reviewed drawings.
