Position Overview

This is a regular student clerical position serving as "UCO Orientation Leader" in which the student will welcome students to campus. Lead small groups and guide groups around campus. Along with other duties as assigned

Hours per Week

  • Up to 10-15 hours per week.

Department Specific Job Functions

  • Those selected must stay in Good Academic Standing to maintain their position as an Orientation Leader.
  • Must maintain full-time enrollment during the Spring and Fall semesters unless an applicant is graduating that semester.
  • Must participate in the Orientation Leader Retreat and training classes.
  • Must be punctual to all Orientation Leader meetings, trainings, or job responsibilities.
  • Applicants should conduct themselves in a professional manner both on and off campus. This includes, but is not limited to, appropriate professional behavior expected of the UCO students as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Applicants agree to wear and abide by the Orientation Leader dress code as designed by the supervisor. This code includes, but not limited to a name tag, specific shirts provided by the New Broncho Orientation Program, as well as specific types of shorts/pants/skirts.
  • Those selected will participate actively in the Forge Orientation program and complete assigned tasks - small group activities, directional guides, enrolling guides, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Applicants will have the ability to be affiliated with their Greek lettered organizations throughout the Orientation experience but will promote Greek unity as a whole and encourage incoming students to find the best fit for them.
  • Those selected agree to return any and all Orientation Gear/Uniform to the Orientation Supervisors in the case they are terminated.
  • Orientation Leaders will stay in their assigned rooms during the Orientation programs they are working and will not be able to stay off campus during those program.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact jobs@uco.edu for more information.

Qualifications/Experience Required

A valid driver's license is required.
