Overview
Responsible for creating and implementing safety standards, programs, training, and interventions to reduce incidents in the workplace and promote safety excellence in accordance with company and OSHA/Federal/State/Local rules and regulations.
General Responsibilities
- Supports Corporate Safety Governance System including all safety policies and procedures, ensuring self and employees are in compliance with OSHA/State/Local/Company/Client rules and regulations.
- Communicates regularly with Corporate Safety, Operations Management, Site Management, peers and subordinates, as well as representatives of the client organization, relative to safety practices, procedures and continuous safety improvement.
- Collaborates and supports Corporate Safety, HR, and Operations team to drive safety excellence at assigned location(s).
- Responsible for coordination and facilitation of safety new hire orientation, training and certification programs at assigned location(s).
- Conducts incident investigations, assists in identifying root cause(s), and implementing corrective action(s) to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and implements Job Hazard Analysis, Inspections and Audit Checklists to identify potential hazards and establish appropriate controls.
- Develops and executes a site-specific safety improvement plan to enhance workplace safety.
- Consults with Corporate Safety to design, implement and execute safety initiatives/interventions to drive continuous improvement and safety excellence.
- Coordinates & conducts ongoing safety training and Train-the Trainer programs.
- Maintain appropriate training and certification records including class schedules, registration, attendance, completions, safety certifications and re-certification.
- Utilize the Incident Management System to proactively manage safety data to identify trends and monitor safety performance at their location.
- Develop and track safety metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and interventions.
- Take appropriate actions regarding safety inspection/audit findings or safety incidents.
- Assist with employee counseling, coaching, and proper documentation of safety performance issues as needed.
- Executes the CBPS Safety Cadence process to proactively manage safety at the location(s).
- Conducts daily/weekly safety huddle meetings and creates/distributes corporate and site communications.
- Performs other HR/Safety duties and special projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certification Powered Industrial Truck/Vehicle required (e.g., forklift, powered pallet jack, order pickers, etc.)
- Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer (CET), OSHA 30 General Industry, preferred
- 49 CFR Hazardous Materials, IATA and IMDG Dangerous Goods Certification, preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree, Environmental, Health, & Safety required or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years safety experience in warehouse, industrial manufacturing, logistics and distribution and/or pharmaceutical industries
- 3-5 years designing and developing safety and health training
- 3-5 years PIV experience (Forklift a must)
- 3+ years of Incident Management System (e.g., Gensuite) experience
