Position Summary:
- Facilitate patient flow through the Emergency Department to provide optimum efficiency in department resources and timely management of patient care.
- Coordinate patient flow in an efficient manner through collaboration with hospital and medical staff.
- Determine bed placement of EMS and walk-in patients in collaboration with the charge nurse.
- Coordinate and facilitate transfers out of the ED (facility transfers and admissions).
- Coordinate tasks to expedite patient throughput such as cleaning patient rooms, discharging patients, and transporting patients.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to identify and resolve issues related to patient throughput

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Program in Professional Nursing required.
- Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred
- Required skills/abilities

- Thorough knowledge of ED throughput

- Effective communication with all members of the healthcare team
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
