Job Description:

This position can be filled as a Staff Auditor 1 or Staff Auditor 2 dependent on qualifications.

Location of job is in Shreveport, LA.

Staff Auditor 1:

This position is an entry level, unclassified staff position in the Office of Internal Audit at LSU. The Auditor 1/2 assists in the completion of basic tasks that support audit planning, execution, follow-up, and may perform tasks to assist in the investigation of allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and non-compliance with University policies. Responsibilities are to be fulfilled with limited independence under extensive supervision by more experienced auditors. The Auditor 1/2 must be detail, action, solution and results oriented and dedicated to continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

75% - Assists in completing assigned audit projects to ensure they are conducted in accordance with LSU OIA's methodology and that milestone dates are met and projects are completed on time. Executes and/or assists other auditors in audit planning, risk identification, performing test steps, and the accurate documentation of the related work papers to support conclusions reached. May also include assistance with drafting findings and recommendations.

10% - Participates in entrance and exit conferences in a support role. Performs follow-up for assigned action plans to ensure risks identified during the audit have been addressed.

10% - Continuously develops knowledge of audit tools and techniques to ensure quality audit work. Makes positive contributions as demonstrated by accepting guidance from and working effectively with team members.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned by OIA management.

Job Responsibilities Staff Auditor 2:

55% - Completes assigned audit projects to ensure they are conducted in accordance with LSU OIA's methodology and that milestone dates are met and projects are completed on time. Executes and/or assists other auditors in the performance of audit test steps and the accurate documentation of the related work papers to support conclusions reached.

15% - Assists in performance of audit planning. Documents processes via narratives or flowcharts to identify top risks. Identifies key control points within a process / activity and assists in the development of audit test steps designed to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of those internal controls.

15% - Develops test conclusions and drafts findings and recommendations for inclusion in the report; Participates in exit conferences in a support role. Performs follow-up for assigned action plans to ensure risks identified during the audit have been addressed.

10% - Ensures professionalism and independence and the constant appearance of professionalism and independence. Continuously develops knowledge of audit tools and techniques to ensure quality audit work. Makes positive contributions as demonstrated by accepting guidance from and working effectively with team members.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned by OIA management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Staff Auditor 1: No Experience Required

Staff Auditor 2: Minimum one year relevant experience

Specific Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant business field, information systems, public administration, higher education administration, or other field with acceptable relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Specific experience in auditing, compliance, governmental, higher education, healthcare, risk analysis, and assurance services.

Special Qualification:

There will be a requirement for a driver's license with a pre-employment drug screen since the position requires travel. In-state travel may be required, including overnight, up to 25%
