Position Overview
Ralph Lauren seeks a Manager, Inventory FP&A to join our Finance organization, responsible for forecasting, budgeting and reporting & analysis processes related to the inventory balances for all North America entities.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years progressive responsibility within an FP&A or Accounting team where the experience should normally include inventory accounting and/or finance responsibilities within an inventory driven retail or consumer goods organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads the monthly forecasting process for all NA entities' inventory balance sheets and closely related P&L / balance sheet segments
- Assist with developing long-range plans and annual inventory budgets, including scenario planning and financial modeling
- Reviews and constructs monthly forecasts for gross to net inventory, including inventory reserves (e.g. NRV) and other closely related inventory activity
- Consolidates global inventory forecast deliverables and helps prepare quarterly inventory reporting deliverables
- Supports the team with ad-hoc requests/ reporting as needed, including inventory on-hand reporting and other closely related inventory activity
- Manages effective relationships with key internal partners in FP&A, Accounting, Inventory Management, Merchandising, among others
- Challenges team status quo looking for productivity and effectivity driven initiatives
- Serves as one of the primary advisors for the Head of Inventory FP&A and the Sr Manager, Inventory Accounting & Control
- Provided support to internal/external audit inquiries and defense, including SOX (limited)
- Establishes a standard for high quality output generating positive rapport with team and colleagues
- Commits to decisions reasonable for this management level / manage up when appropriate
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Finance, Accounting or another closely related business application
- 5+ years progressive responsibility in finance, inventory accounting, and/or reporting experience (any combination of public / private) within a retail or consumer goods environment
- Works comfortably with large data sets utilizing query, reporting and summarization features within Excel / BI tools
- Leads root cause analysis, including self-critical observations, to provide constructive feedback and opportunities for improvement
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment; detail oriented with strong organization skills
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Preferred: SAP, Hyperion Essbase, Island Pacific
