Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, permits, corporate policies, and legal agreements.
  • Support the business unit in adhering to regulations related to air, water, waste, tank management, emergency plans, and the ISO 14001

Environmental Management System.
  • Monitor environmental compliance and implement corrective actions for any environmental issues at the assigned facility.
  • Conduct periodic audits of environmental facilities to ensure compliance and identify potential issues.
  • Assist facility operators in developing efficient methods for identifying and resolving environmental problems.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to relevant agencies.
  • Interact with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies regarding permitting, compliance, and facility inspections.
  • Participate in or lead multi-disciplinary teams tasked with securing environmental permits.
  • Administer the U.S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe working environment within the assigned facility.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the steel manufacturing process.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Civil Engineering, OR 10+ years of experience in Air, Water, and Waste -Regulations and/or Environmental Management.
  • Technical expertise in Environmental Management and/or Engineering.
  • Leadership experience in Environmental Management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least two years of environmental management experience in an industrial setting or relevant co-op/internship experience.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • RCRA/DOT training.
  • Certifications in OSHA's HAZWOPER, CHMM, and/or PMP are a plus.
  • Certified Landfill Operator in the State of Indiana.
