About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee the business and financial affairs of the school system. The CFO will be responsible for advising the Superintendent and School Committee on all financial matters, preparing and monitoring the school department budget, establishing financial procedures and controls, and directing the procurement process. This includes overseeing all financial and administrative matters, such as cash management, contract negotiations, and student activity accounts. The CFO will also be involved in maintaining the integrity of financial information, administering insurance programs, and developing methods for inventory control of fixed assets.
The ideal candidate for this role should be skilled in conceptual thinking, and leadership, and have a strong background in fiscal operations management. Familiarity with Federal and State financial reporting and auditing procedures is essential, and knowledge of the statewide uniform chart of accounts (UCOA) is preferred. The CFO must have a Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting, be certified or certifiable as a School Business Administrator in Rhode Island, and possess strong math, analytical, and accounting skills. The role requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating financial information and in situations that require visual perception and oral communication.
