Description
- Insures patient accounts are handled according to hospital policy and that contacts with the public are conducted in a concerned and efficient manner
- Enter detailed notes explaining account activity in the Patient Accounts system
- Determine and assist but not limited to qualifying patients for Indigent, Bankruptcy, Deceased, Financial Assistance, Medicaid eligibility, Presumptive eligibility
- Reviews the daily census report to insure that in-house accounts have been reviewed for accurate demographic information, benefit eligibility, and prior authorizations
- Bed-side visits are made to inform the patient of their copay, insurance discrepancies, financial assistance, or any other pertinent information required to complete the screening process
- Works with the Registration to insure that insurance is verified and payment arrangements are made prior to the arrival of the patient.
- Works with the patients to obtain third party billing information but not limited to personal liability, auto accidents
- Works closely with the Registration, Billing and Cashiering sections of the Patient Accounts department to insure all activities regarding patient accounts are completed in a timely and thorough manner
- Handle’s patient concerns and walk-ins as needed
- Submits newborn notifications to the Otero County Income Support Department
