SUMMARY:

MCAD is seeking part-time temporary instructors to teach in our Continuing Education area. This position is responsible for teaching course work related to Fine Arts, Media Arts, Design and Professional Development. Online and in-person positions are available for teaching both teen and adult groups. MCAD Continuing Education courses may be a 10-week for credit class, a single 3-hours workshop and everything in between.

Continuing Education Instructors must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.

DETAILS: This is a non-benefit eligible exempt contract position. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Continuing Education and Professional Studies and is paid a starting rate of $56.14 per teaching hour.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified individuals will be invited to submit proposals for new courses or will be considered when positions arise to teach existing courses. The following are courses of interest: illustration (analog and digital), graphic design (typography, web design, UX, motion design), digital drawing and painting, animation and new digital tools and software (Procreate).

Represents MCAD's vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in studio art or design; education; or related field. Advanced degree preferred, but not required.
  • A minimum of 3-years curriculum development and teaching experience.

ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1886, Minneapolis College of Art and Design is located in the rich creative community of the Twin Cities. The college offers bachelor's degrees in fourteen disciplines including arts entrepreneurship, design, fine arts, and media arts; one MFA; three online master's degrees; and continuing education classes for all ages.
