Groundskeeper (Second Shift)

Job Description:

Performs grounds keeping tasks in a competent and dependable manner. Tasks include mowing, line trimming, pruning, herbicide application, athletic field and greenhouse maintenance, construction and maintenance of landscape beds, snow removal and de-icing operations, recycling operations, litter control and other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safe operation of job-related equipment such as tractors, end loaders, lawn mowers, etc. Knowledge of grounds/ landscaping practices and procedures Knowledge of job-related herbicides and ability to comprehend and read labels.

  • Operation of necessary equipment related to job responsibilities. Ability to properly trim trees and prune bushes and other plants.

  • Ability to performs necessary tasks in a timely and competent manner. Must have valid driver's license and be able to maintain insurability through the College's insurance.

Other Characteristics:

  • Must be motivated and show initiative in performance of responsibilities. Ability to work well with others. People skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs grounds keeping tasks in a competent and dependable manner. Tasks include mowing, line trimming, pruning, herbicide application, athletic field and greenhouse maintenance, construction and maintenance of landscape beds, snow removal and de-icing operations, recycling operations, litter control and other related duties as assigned.

  • Event set-up/tear down/furniture moving and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

  • Two years directly related experience in landscaping/grounds/nursery work. Must be physically able to perform necessary tasks.

  • Must have valid driver's license and maintain insurability through the college's insurance.
