Description

Position Overview

Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. This position requires the successful candidate to maintain a smart phone on which to receive telephone calls, email, and SMS messages from Wellness and Sport personnel. Additionally, this student position requires physical and manual labor. This position may require moving equipment/furniture, working outside on grounds, and/or helping with preventative maintenance.

Hours per Week

  • Up to 25 hrs/wk during Fall & Spring semesters
  • Up to 35 hrs/wk during Summer semesters
  • M-F with ability to work some weekends and during the summer

Department Specific Job Functions
  • Assist in coordinating the logistics of events including, but not limited to the UCO Endeavor Games and fundraising events
  • Will help coordinate the volunteer efforts of the UCO Endeavor Games
  • Assist in recruiting volunteers for the UCO Endeavor Games
  • Update and maintain event database
  • Assist in coordinating parties and social events for the UCO Endeavor Games
  • Assist in decorating and set up for parties and social events for the UCO Endeavor Games
  • Assists with general arrangements, registrations, participant confirmations, and preparing information for active duty/veteran military athletes
  • Assist with office and secretarial duties that may include but are not limited to: typing, filing, answering telephones, customer service, and scheduling appointments
  • Assist with social media and events for Endeavor Games and the Department of Wellness and Sport
  • Must be available to work weekends during events and during the summers
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students shall be enrolled full time to be eligible to work as a student worker. Full time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact jobs@uco.edu for more information.

Qualifications/Experience Required
  • Must be able to work year round, including summers
  • Computer literacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with data entry
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral
  • Student should be detail oriented and a self-starter
  • Required character traits: Dependability, thoroughness, and initiative
  • Have sensitivity of intercultural communication, and have good interpersonal skills
