CFS has partnered with a Boston-based construction and real estate development client for a Project Controller role overseeing two of their ongoing development projects. This Project Controller role will have financial oversight responsibility of these early-stage projects, working with assigned staff and on-site construction teams.
This role is remote with occasional travel to assigned project locations as well as company headquarters in Boston.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Controller:
- Financial Management: Handle all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: The Project Controller will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor job costs and budget performance to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate financial reports to management and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with financial standards and develop key financial metrics for monitoring.
- Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws. Coordinate with auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Financial Analysis and Strategic Support: The Project Controller will provide insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and evaluate the financial viability of new projects. Present financial data and recommendations to leadership.
- Team Leadership and Development: The Project Controller will mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in senior financial management roles within the real estate development industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction finance, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and MS Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
