JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse - LTCC Weekend Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Long Term Care Center

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing -LTCC

JOB SUMMARY

Renders supervision to facility staff and professional nursing care to residents within the LTCC in support of medical care and the interdisciplinary team within the policies of the institution.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Nurse.

EXPERIENCE

Prior experience with geriatric patients helpful. Experience in psychiatric and/or rehabilitation nursing also useful.

SKILLS

Interest in and understanding of the special needs of the older adult. Must have well-developed written and verbal communication skills in order to interpret written instructions, and to communicate and document effectively. Must have well developed motor coordination and manual dexterity in order to perform psychomotor nursing skills. Must be able to apply nursing process in problem solving. Must be able to prioritize appropriately and make sound nursing judgments. Must have supervisory skills for immediate supervision of nursing assistants. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

BLS (AHA)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide supervision of facility units in partnership with charge nurses.
  • Assist with nursing needs and coverage as needed.
  • Assist with Admissions/Discharges.
  • Conduct quality audit rounds throughout each shift.
  • Serve as liaison between family, patient, provider and other departments.
  • Participate in managing staff, scheduling, and assignments to ensure quality delivery of care.
  • Report on resident and staff updates through handover process with facility DON or designee.
  • Knows and is able to carry out approved emergency procedure.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident data.
  • Follow and enforce back safety precaution for lifting and moving patients and other items.
  • Must be willing to take on-call for clinical and scheduling needs and work weekends.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
  • Offer emotional support to residents and families, e.g., during institutional adjustment, the grief process, coping with chronic illness and working with the cognitively impaired resident and his/her family as needed.
  • Organize the workday according to accepted routines and prioritizes activities.
  • Participate in education programs by attending scheduled in services, suggesting in service topics, teaching other staff on an informal and formal basis, as required.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors.
  • Make a record of absences, tardiness and relief coverage, and provide additional staffing for coverage of units as required.
  • May be required to perform other related duties for which the individual is qualified.
