Midland University is seeking an exceptional faculty member for a full-time history position beginning August 2024. Duties include: Teaching a variety of lower- and upper-level history courses, based on expertise and departmental need Collaborating across departments to support General Education curriculum and serving as the endorsement coordinate for Social Science and History Education students Collecting data and working on assessment to ensure continuous improvement in all History courses, including those taught by adjunct and/or part-time faculty Engaging students with innovative teaching practices Developing and implementing curriculum based on student and profession needs Partnering across the university for student recruiting, retention, and graduation Creating performance and program goals with continuous reflection and a willingness to accept feedback The ideal candidate will possess the following: PhD in History or a related discipline; preference given to those with a World History background Experience teaching a variety of history courses Commitment to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students The ability to create dynamic and relevant learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom by continuously seeking and applying new, relevant information and ideas. A genuine interest in student development as it relates to mentoring for internships, employment and graduate study Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster a collegial work environment that encourages change and innovation; and an ability to interact effectively and work productively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups True to its roots, Midland believes in the power of the liberal arts as a way for students to discover how their individual gifts, abilities, and passions prepare them for a life of meaning and value, no matter what career path they pursue.
