The Emergency Department Charge Nurse is a nurse who assumes assigned management responsibilities for a designated time, implements policies, gives input on staffing patterns, maintains supplies and equipment, and participates in process improvement projects and staff development programs to ensure safe patient care delivery.## This nurse also assists with coordinating patient care using a multidisciplinary approach per the hospital#s mission and physician and patient expectations.# The charge nurse monitors the condition of patients under their charge, recognizing changes in patient condition, and implements appropriate interventions, continuity of care, and patient safety.# The Charge Nurse will adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, infection control, personnel, and disaster. What you#ll do day-to-day: Managerial Duties: Coordinates daily administrative tasks, including patient care and nursing assignments. Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring compliance with regulations. Provides mentorship, evaluates staff performance, and participates in hiring and departmental projects. Clinical Duties and Equipment Management: Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts nursing care processes as needed. Maintains equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness. Collaborates with healthcare team members, communicates effectively, and participates in professional development activities. Department Objectives and Professional Conduct: Coordinates patient care across specialties, maintains professionalism during crises, and assists in personnel orientation. Enhances professional growth through educational programs and adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, fosters teamwork, and maintains a clean and organized environment. Seeking a licensed Registered Nurse with an Associate#s or Bachelor#s degree, along with BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC # ENPC certifications (CEN, NRP preferred). Candidates must have at least 3 years of healthcare experience, including an Emergency Room setting, demonstrating excellent patient care. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, alongside compassion, sound judgment, and stress-handling abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical software is required, with expert knowledge of nursing practices, hospital procedures, and protocols. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional critical thinking, multitasking, and time management abilities, coupled with leadership skills and physical stamina for long shifts.
