The Clinical Informatics Educator is responsible to develop and deliver education to clinical staff. Educators provide assistance to clinical departments in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining effective training experiences. Educators will utilize the EMR system to adequately relay information to providers and staff in an understandable and accurate training format which utilizes up-to-date workflows and current curriculum to improve EMR utilization and patient experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of Classroom training including curriculum development with Clinical Informatics
  • Cerner Experience

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Recommend clinicians, including RN’s, maintain current state licensure.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • In collaboration with Informatics and hospital education, conduct and coordinate a variety of EMR-related classes, refresher sessions and workshops for hospital staff, develop Job Aides, WBT's (web-based trainings), and Videos.
  • Scope to include all hospital’s EMR's.
  • Annual Review of Job Aides and Workflows.
  • Conducts classroom training sessions, in- services, group and individual instruction independently or with coworkers, for select groups of clinical staff.
  • New hire orientation.
  • Prepares training environment and all training materials for each class.
  • Provides instruction through lecture, demonstration, and proctoring self- learning sessions.
  • Conducts program evaluations and end-user proficiency assessments.
  • Set up and populate electronic training environment.
  • Participates in identifying learning needs of staff with Informatics team, subject-matter experts (SME) and rounding to speak directly with end-users.
  • Assists Informatics and LMS administrator with collecting and maintaining education metrics.
  • Supports Super Users as necessary to maintain ongoing ability to actively support end-users.
  • Participates in the system testing process for new functionality or system upgrades
  • Provides on-going support, including off-hours training when needed (occasional evening/weekend) training.
  • Possesses two years in training and/or working as a trainer/education in Clinical Informatics
  • Holds a Bachelor degree in healthcare, education or related field.
  • Previous healthcare IT and/or EMR training experience – Cerner experience is highly recommended
