Primary Function:

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer position is responsible for working closely with the Maintenance and Engineering team to implement tactical and strategic maintenance and reliability strategies for plant equipment, maintenance practices, and equipment commissioning. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will coordinate and implement proactive maintenance practices that are forward looking, continuously improving, creating, and maintaining processes that efficiently produce high quality water heaters.

Responsibilities:

General:

  • Partner with Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, Technicians and Operations to ensure effective communication on plant equipment issues to optimize uptime.
  • Work with production supervisors, engineers, and outside contractors to maximize plant efficiencies and machine up-time based on root cause investigation.
  • Support continuous improvement efficiencies in maintenance key processes.
  • Provide expertise in terms of Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Approaches, Planning/Scheduling, and Predictive Tools.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

  • Responsible for technical accuracy of preventative maintenance plans.
  • Coordinate and perform PM audits to ensure proper execution.
  • Evaluate the performance of routine maintenance on equipment and responses to equipment failures.
  • Lead efforts to remove gaps in machinery and equipment preventative maintenance plans.
  • Review completed PM work orders to identify opportunities for improvement and create required work orders.

Collect and Utilize Metrics/Data to Improve Equipment

  • Utilizes metrics/data to evaluate and improve work processes.
  • Ensures appropriate monitoring to assess the health and functionality of assets.
  • Conducts a variety of observation techniques, including oil/fluid analysis, vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.
  • Collects and analyzes machinery failure data.
  • Creates and optimizes Mean-Time-To-Repair (MTTR) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) measures.
  • Develops new and innovative methods for timely repair of assets.
  • Be a resource for team with specific machine performance information and detailed component and parts data.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance procedures and ensure their compliance.
  • Utilize various computer programs to organize, monitor and communicate department objectives and activities.

Supports Future Equipment Upgrades

  • Develops equipment modification plans based on failure data, performance feedback, and OEM design modifications.
  • Makes specific equipment recommendations to improve machinery performance, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Creates plans to standardize parts across like machines considering specific component performance and maintainability.
  • Leads the Root Cause Failure Analysis effort for equipment failures that meet specified guidelines.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, production, and engineering for any major changes to equipment.
  • Partner with applicable team members to ensure new equipment is on-boarded successfully from a maintenance perspective.

Leads Efforts to Ensure Appropriate Spare Parts Are Available

  • Responsible for verifying that the BOM has been updated after equipment modifications.
  • Works with Storeroom to optimize spares.
  • Responsible to maintain current and correct OEM specifications, manuals and procedures for plant assets in support of planning functions and in support of daily maintenance functions in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Coordinate with various vendors to execute repairs of rebuildable items and maintain associated inventory.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and inventory team to ensure crib stock is updated and key parts are stocked appropriately.

Support Various Strategic Changes

  • Assist Maintenance and Engineer team in implementing maintenance strategies to ensure continuous improvement within the plant.
  • Develops Asset Criticality Analysis

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related or technical field such as mechanical or electrical engineering or 5 years of related experience in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience engineering or maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred
