SUMMARY: Inspects machinery, equipment, facility and working conditions in industrial or other setting to ensure compliance with occupational environmental health and safety regulations. Develops and implements safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions by performing the following duties. Maintains and improves company’s safety and environmental programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
· Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
· Conducts machine safety pre-qualifications for new machinery.
· Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares all government environmental health and safety related forms.
· Orders and distributes environmental health and safety equipment.
· Maintains safety files, chemical inventory lists and SDS files.
· Escorts employees of agencies conducting EH&S audits of the facility.
· Conducts and coordinates environmental health and safety training to educate workers about environmental health and safety policies, laws, and practices.
· Observes workers to determine use of prescribed personal protective equipment such as glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, and footwear.
· Coordinates air quality tests to determine the presence of harmful gases and vapors.
· Reviews and approves chemical and raw material purchases.
· Tests working areas for noise, light, toxic, and other EH&S hazards.
· Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
· Maintains & improves company’s EHS Program.
· Coordinates safety team meetings & efforts.
· Coordinates the purchasing & on-hand inventory of company’s personal protective equipment.
· Coordinates monthly safety statistics report for all U.S. facilities.
· Coordinates disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous/recyclable wastes.
· Prepares all EHS related certification requests.
· Management representative for ISO-14001 Environmental management program.
· Coordinates environmental program efforts and audits.
· Coordinates Spill & First Aid response teams training and efforts.
· Manages safety awareness programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years experience required.
