Position Summary:

The security manager will be responsible for the safety and security of Athens’ various locations. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, this position requires a high degree of diplomacy, flexibility and adaptability. The successful candidate must continue and improve Athens’ ongoing commitment to the safety and security of its locations, including employees and visitors, while also supporting a welcoming and collaborative working environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • With oversight from their manager, manage Athens security programs, protocols and policies; ensuring the safety and welfare of employees and visitors while on-site.
  • Working closely with Operations and HR, identify, recommend and implement policies, procedures and processes as needed for safety and security.
  • Recommend and implement strategies (including staffing) to optimize security processes.
  • Secure facilities, equipment, employees, and visitors by working in conjunction with the appropriate departments in recommending safety and security equipment purchases and upgrades.
  • Supervise, train and mentor security personnel, including the preparation and delivery of performance reviews; identify and recommend training programs for staff as necessary.
  • In collaboration with their manager and the Athens leadership team, lead the development, implementation and testing of the Company’s various emergency security plans.
  • Develop, schedule, and conduct safety, security, and emergency preparedness training for employees and staff.
  • Work directly with their manager in developing the annual budget for security operations.
  • Manage regular inspections of Athens’s perimeter gates at all locations and update access controls and codes as necessary, including after hours and non-operating-hours audits and security checks.
  • Manage the processes for arrival and departure activities of staff, including for after-hours and weekend work.
  • Manage security team, including reviewing and approving invoices for contractors and performance assessments and feedback for employees, and develop schedules and rotation charts for security coverage.
  • Develop protocols for response to security alarm notifications and direction of local law enforcement.
  • Responsible for creating clear and cohesive incident report templates and communicating incident findings with Athens leadership and local agencies, as necessary.
  • Manage parking assignments, working directly with management at each site.
  • Oversee perimeter control card access, including distribution of access control cards.
  • Oversee and/or partner effectively on inspection and monitoring of control panels, alarms, and all related security equipment for proper operation, including all fire and security systems.
  • Maintain inventory of Athens location keys; ordering duplicates as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years’ management experience dealing with security roles, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing security programs.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
  • Experience in facility and employee safety protocols to include developing emergency response actions in case of fires, damage and natural disasters.
  • Knowledge of best practices of security hardware specifications and code requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with general public and regulatory agencies as well as political contacts.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with surveillance systems and cameras, and the operation of the related software.
  • Familiarity with protocols for ordering and maintaining emergency supplies.
  • Experience establishing facility security protocols and plans.
