Environment:
Our client is a large Manufacturing company of consumer/home care products in a need of a Sr. Formulation Chemist with a chemistry and laboratory background to work on homecare products.
Duties/Responsibilities/Scope of Work:
This role will be executing product development activities hands-on in the laboratory with the team. This contractor will be developing laboratory samples and product prototypes to meet project design parameters. They will be responsible for identifying/developing methods and conducting tests to evaluate products or prototypes against established goals. They will be creating, updating and maintaining electronic claim substantiation files. Other responsibilities include:
• Record and analyze data; draw conclusions and make recommendations for next steps
• Create experimental designs for prototypes and test methods
• Evaluate new technologies for use in products/prototypes
• Initiate product, raw material, and test method specifications.
• Partner with Consumer Engagement to execute consumer research activities
• Participate in the identification of consumer insights to drive the product development process
• Interact on project teams (intra-R&D, Marketing, NPD, Operations, MRD, Procurement, Sales), with vendors and with contracted service suppliers; function as TPL on some project teams
• Help trouble shoot manufacturing opportunities
• Work with Consumer Relations on any consumer questions or complaints
• Approve finished product, raw materials and test method specifications into specification system
• Lead cross-functional meetings to contribute in the development process; provide technical input; provide input to the status of deliverables and project timelines; review status of projects in portfolio.
Required:
- Chemistry Degree
- Formulation Experience 5+ years
- Laboratory Experience 5+ years
- Experience with product development
