We are looking for an Electrical Project Engineering Lead to join Kaiser Aluminum Operations in Spokane Washington!

The Electrical Project Engineering Lead possesses, understands, and applies knowledge and experience in the full life-cycle project management of multiple projects from proposal conception to commissioning and close-out. Projects include capacity, process and reliability improvements for areas throughout the facility.

  • Salary range $90,000-$130,000 per year depending on experience

What you will work on:

  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams to develop project scope and requirements
  • Develop and manage project scope, resourcing plan, budget, and schedule
  • Prepare capital authorizations
  • Develop specifications and evaluate technical engineering and equipment bid packages
  • Administer engineering, equipment purchases and installation contracts
  • Coordinate and manage installations and outages
  • Track and report final project performance, schedule, and cost compliance
  • Review design packages and drawings for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards
  • Coordinate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering resources to achieve project objectives
  • Participate in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
  • Assist in trouble-shooting equipment control and electrical systems
  • Coordinate and support electrical safety initiatives and Kaiser electrical standards

What you will bring to the position:

  • An undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required. Minimum of 5 years previous electrical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with functional and performance-based specification development
  • Familiarity with electrical and control system design including key documents such as schematics diagrams, single lines, P&ID and control narratives
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors and drive systems and National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC based control systems and safety systems
  • Excellent analytical skills including knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong Word, Excel, MS Project skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
