SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the administration of the company’s cost accounting systems and processes. This person is accountable for the ongoing analysis of Cost of Goods Sold, Job/Inventory Costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Cost Accountant must also assist in the development and monitoring of data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of reporting data to management. Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager; the ideal candidate will have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Costs:


  • and monitor product costs.
  • on production variances to standard cost
  • on margins by product group
  • in maintaining company policy to record scrap and wastage.
  • with engineering and product management to provide accurate cost estimates.
  • new products.
  • cost procedures and make recommendations for improvements.


Inventory Control:

  • accurate inventory evaluation reports based on perpetual records as needed.
  • assist in the development of key ratios to monitor.
  • cycle counts for variances and resolve issues.
  • physical inventory counts, and cycle counts with Inventory Manager.
  • inventory cycle counts of controlled items and related spot checks in
  • with Inventory and Compliance departments.
  • the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
  • and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
  • with Inventory Control to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
  • with annual audit of onsite inventory.
  • in company goal to strive for ‘lean’ production.
  • Import/Export documentation in conjunction with Receiving/Shipping and Compliance.


General Accounting:

  • Controller in annual budget preparation.
  • cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
  • Controller in month end and year-end financial activities including, but not limited to, journal entries, account reconciliation and month end reports.
  • quarterly excise tax returns.
  • for performing and/or completing such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required and/or assigned to you by the Company.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervisory responsibilities are assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cost/Job Costing experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Ability to collaborate with various departments to solve problems as a team.
  • Must be able to adapt to enable efficient data gathering and analysis.
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data.
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • High level of Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of INFOR VISUAL ERP software is an advantage.
  • Experience of ERP implementing, or reimplementation is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Prepared to travel on company business to Kimber locations.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • degree in Accounting/ Finance
  • to 5 years of Cost Costing experience within a manufacturing environment


Preferred:

  • degree in Accounting.
  • of manufacturing ERP systems
