Position Summary:

Visual Comfort & Co. is looking for an eager intern to support our growing technical writing team for Summer 2024. Interns typically support their designated department in day-to-day activities, complete assigned projects, and assist in all aspects of the department’s needs. Interns will receive mentoring from their assigned supervisor and must contribute to a community engagement project sponsored by the company. At the end of the internship, interns are required to submit a presentation documenting their acquired knowledge and accomplishments.

Responsibilities:

  • Build the Engineering department’s SharePoint library.
  • Compile, label, edit, and save documents including instruction sheets.
  • Edit instructional sheets and company documents as requested.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations, including data entry and project facilitation.
  • Contribute to assigned company-sponsored community engagement activities.
  • Participate in regular internship meetings and complete required presentations.
  • Answer emails and provide assistance in other departments as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year bachelor’s degree program (senior year) or completing a graduate degree program in English, Writing, or similar field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint is a plus.
  • Working educational knowledge of English, Writing, or related field.
  • Proficient written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
