Sr. Footwear Technician, Job Overview:
We at Northstar Sourcing LLC, are seeking a seasoned Senior Footwear Technician with a specialization in mold development and fittings, who will also take on a leadership role in managing our footwear product development team. This position requires not only technical expertise in mold development and fittings but also strong leadership and collaboration skills to guide a team towards innovative and successful product outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of footwear designers, technicians, and developers to foster a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Coordinate and prioritize tasks, ensuring the team's efforts align with project timelines and organizational goals.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and strategize solutions.
- Mold Development:
- Lead the design and development of molds for various types of footwear, collaborating closely with the team to integrate diverse perspectives and expertise.
- Ensure that mold designs align with the overall product vision and technical specifications, meeting quality and efficiency standards.
- Fittings Expertise:
- Conduct fittings and evaluations, guiding the team in the assessment of comfort, performance, and fit of footwear prototypes.
- Provide expertise and insights on adjustments and improvements based on fitting trials, working collaboratively with product designers and developers.
- Material Selection:
- Collaborate with materials specialists within the team to choose appropriate materials for molds and components, considering factors such as durability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in materials relevant to footwear design and manufacturing.
- Quality Control:
- Establish and implement quality control processes for mold development and fittings across the team, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to address any issues related to molds and fittings during the production phase.
- Documentation:
- Oversee the maintenance of detailed documentation of mold development processes, fitting evaluations, and adjustments made during the design and manufacturing stages.
- Provide strategic reports to senior management, highlighting key findings, team achievements, and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Footwear Technician with a focus on mold development and fittings.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of footwear manufacturing processes, materials, and industry trends.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in both English/ Mandarin/ Cantonese
- Work experience in Chinese factory strongly encouraged.
