The Email Operations Lead will join the Consumer Marketing team and focus on optimizing Dallas Morning News’ growing email efforts. This new role will focus on email strategies that benefit engagement and growth for readers while supporting a team of marketing managers, newsroom, and data team members. This role will be responsible for overseeing all existing email operations within our ESP, as well as managing new email deployment from conception through ongoing sends. This individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, thrive both in teams and individually, and be excited and open to learning and growing with the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

∙ Owning the execution of all emails, including creative implementation, HTML coding, asset management, automation, list segmentation, and deployment.

∙ Work closely with various stakeholders and departments to optimize data flow and transparency from multiple systems into and out of our ESP.

∙ Assist in managing a large and complex newsletter program within an existing ESP (Sailthru)

∙ Providing technical assistance and user guidelines to all internal staff as needed.

∙ Coordinate A/B testing of subject lines, send times, or other email features.

∙ Updating email templates as needed.

∙ Test all emails before launch for accuracy, tracking, and readability across devices and email providers.

∙ Troubleshooting all emails and newsletters when needed at the time of sending and post-send analysis of any and all technical issues.

∙ Availability outside of typical working hours for technical support.

∙ Working directly with our ESP’s support team.

∙ Work closely with marketing managers to understand and implement email best practices and keep up-to-date and communicate changes internally within the email

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3-6 years of previous experience working directly with an ESP
  • 3+ years of experience working with HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS for email marketing alongside a strong technical aptitude. ∙ An obsession with accurate data and comfortable requesting and interpreting data ∙ A/B and multivariate testing capabilities and understanding
  • Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, as well as excellent spelling, grammar, and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Passion and commitment to customer success.
