The Associate Counsel will provide legal counsel to assist SVP of Legal and senior partners.


The position provides exposure to a full spectrum of duties within a top-tier real estate development and property management firm. As such, the position demands a very dedicated person with excellent attention to detail, good people skills, and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, work independently, solve problems practically, and explain the applicable law and the language in documents to their non-lawyer colleagues. The Associate Counsel will serve as a legal translator and drafter for Company personnel at all levels.


Roles & Responsibilities:

· Draft, review and negotiate leases, property and development management agreements, amendments, license agreements, organizational documents, letters of intent, notices and various other legal documents for commercial real estate portfolio.

· Review and abstract leases, financing documents, purchase and sale agreements, management/leasing agreements, organizational documents, and other corporate and real estate documents.

· Prepare, review and coordinate due diligence and closing documents for real estate transactions.

· Advise and support the leasing, development, finance, marketing and operations departments in various business and legal matters.

· Assist contract management with reviewing and negotiating agreements, as needed.

· Coordinate with internal teams, other functional areas, and external parties to ensure timely completion of agreements and appropriate contractual terms.

· Work closely with various departments to help ensure compliance with cross-functional policies and procedures.

· Support legal team members on special projects and be willing to grow and take on additional responsibilities.



Qualifications and Skills:

· At least 3 years of real estate law firm experience – with examples of demonstrated excellence in the workplace.

· Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgment.

· Highly collaborative and thoughtfully practical.

· Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accelerated law school.

· In good standing and able to practice within the state of Massachusetts.
