Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of surgical patients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality preoperative care, manage surgical instruments and equipment, and maintain a sterile environment. Your expertise and attention to detail will be essential in facilitating successful surgical procedures.

Job Details:

  • 13 week assignment
  • 7:00am-5:30pm shift
  • 40 hours/week
  • Rotating call with staff
  • Weekly gross $2,640

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preoperative Assessment: Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to ensure patients are prepared for surgery, addressing any concerns or medical history issues.
  • Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, including passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing any concerns or changes in the patient's condition promptly.
  • Sterile Technique: Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room, including proper sterilization of instruments and adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with preoperative and postoperative education to ensure understanding and compliance with care plans.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities, assessments, and interventions in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth flow of surgical procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations during surgery, including code situations, while maintaining composure and following established protocols.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and availability of surgical equipment and instruments, reporting any malfunctions or deficiencies promptly.
Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of practice
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in perioperative nursing or operating room setting
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures and aseptic techniques
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
