THE ROLE

The Senior Strategist -Investment Product Competitive Analysis actively supports Global Product's efforts by providing in-depth, objective information about competitive forces and identifying critical opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate will have particular expertise in analyzing and translating competitive information that will help drive and inform business decisions. Candidate will also be the subject matter expert on retail separately managed accounts, institutional model delivery and customization.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Serve as the primary retail separately managed accounts product expert and product owner in Global Product and overall Distribution organization. Maintain a strong understanding of the industry with a particular emphasis on the overall competitive product landscape and MFS' positioning.
  • Support broad based product initiatives across channels through market research and analysis utilizing outside databases such as Morningstar, Strategic Insight, eVestment.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on competitive analytics working with Global Distribution as well as Global Product and the broader organization. Articulate actionable findings to business partners through highly effective analytics.
  • Identify key industry trends impacting business and translate into strategic recommendations to capitalize on business opportunities. Provide in-depth research as needed for potential marketing programs, white papers, and presentations.
  • Provide timely reporting of key business metrics such as market share (flows and assets) within the industry. Continually review key competitor offerings for impact to current and future offering.
  • Support strategic planning efforts throughout the organization by providing the necessary intelligence to guide the process, including: determining market sizing and growth; analyzing key competitors; providing pricing and product comparisons.
  • Represent MFS on appropriate industry committees as necessary.
  • Communicate key competitive intelligence to target audiences throughout the organization in a timely and relevant fashion. Extensive experience communicating with and interacting with senior management.
  • Performs additional duties as requested


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • BA/BS degree with strong record of accomplishment.
  • 8-12+ years experience in financial services, product development, competitive analysis and research
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail separately managed accounts, institutional model delivery and customization
  • Project management experience with proven ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong expertise in Morningstar and eVestment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accustomed to working with and presenting to senior management.
  • In-depth knowledge of markets for investment products across various distribution channels.
  • Superb business judgment, problem solving and organizational skills. Hands-on, highly motivated self-starter.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with all departments and organizational levels
  • Strong research and analysis skills with the ability to synthesize and interpret data
  • Willingness to travel to attend applicable industry meetings, conferences, and sales meetings.
  • FINRA series 7 and 63 registrations in accordance with MFS' licensing policy.
  • MBA preferred
