The National Security Sector at Leidos is hiring for a Junior-level Cartographer to join our team supporting a U.S. federal government intelligence agency. This role involves working closely with analysts to understand their requirements and using your cartography skills to enhance and convey analytic thoughts and assessments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for geographic information systems and a knack for turning complex information into compelling visual stories. This position is contingent upon contract award.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Utilize technology to design maps, graphics, illustrations, and layouts for Finished Intelligence (FINTEL) production.
  • Analyze and evaluate cartographic information to determine the most appropriate data sources for FINTEL.
  • Research, select, and evaluate map source data for use in the preparation or revision of maps and charts to various scales.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Minimum three years of experience in cartography, with at least a portion of the experience within the last two years.
  • Experience with professional cartography tools to include, but not limited to: ArcGIS Maps; Maya; ArcGIS CityEngine; ArcGIS Pro; ERDAS; RemoteView; ArcGIS Pro; ENVI; SOCET GXP; and ArcMap.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledgeable of and demonstrated ability to apply IC and DoD classification guidelines and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce timely, logical, and concise cartographic products.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and non-verbally; with strong grammar skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information.

Favorable if you have:

  • Experience with DoD and IC imagery assets.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, and Flash), Apple Final Cut Pro X, Map Publisher, and any other interactive graphics enablers, languages, or tools.
  • Knowledge of the intelligence production cycle, executive intelligence production, graphic design, web development, and data science and related technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an area related to cartography from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • An additional four years of experience in cartography, for a total of seven years of experience in the specific labor category, may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $49,400.00 - $89,300.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
