Position Description

Assists CDC Lead Care Providers in all aspects of child care, educational programming, general center upkeep and housekeeping.

Position Responsibilities

60% - Assist Lead Care Providers in planning and preparation of educational programming, daily child care routines, supervision of classrooms and playgrounds, and general center housekeeping duties.30% - Assist Center Director and Lead Teachers with daily activity sheets.5% - Attend staff meetings and recommended training opportunities, as well as participate in professional organizations that promote improvements in early childhood education. Assist with Center public relation efforts (including occasional evenings or weekends).5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

To provide classroom care of children and support the Child Development Center program in line with institutional priorities and to provide a safe learning environment for the Child Development Center children.Interact with all children with dignity and respect and in accordance with all current industry accepted/ CDC approved, and developmentally appropriate practices.Understanding and appreciation for child development.Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience - Up to six months of similar or related experience.Education - A high school education or GED.Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.Other Skills - Preference given to applicants with an earned Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or to applicants willing to begin an education plan resulting in an Associate Degree.

Physical Requirements

Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: Body Fluids and Industrial Chemicals

Wages/Other

The hourly wage for this position is $9.00.
