Position Description
Responsible for assisting the CDL Instructor position with driver training functions for the CDL training program. Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing safety inspections relating to potential truck/trailer issues and teaching functional driving skills such as performing turns, curves and backing.
Position Responsibilities
50% - Provide driving instruction to students while they are driving.25% - Maintain a safe driving/learning experience for students.20% - Provide assistance with maintenance of the equipment.5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Expectations
Expected to maintain a valid CDL license with airbrake endorsement.
Expected to maintain a valid DOT physical card.3. Ability to understand, demonstrate and explain safe vehicle operations to others.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience: - Minimum of 2 years driving a semi-truck.Education: - High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity.Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.

The hourly rate for the CDL Driving Assistant (PT) is $20.00.

Seeking a part-time driving assistant for the Commercial Driver's License and School Bus Training courses. Candidates would be responsible for assisting the CDL Instructor with driver training functions for the CDL training program. Including but not limited to, performing safety inspections relating to potential truck/trailer or bus issues, instruct functional driving skills such as performing turns, curves and backing. Candidates must possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License without an air brake restriction and a passenger and school bus endorsement. A valid Kansas Department of Transportation physical card is also required. Individual(s) hired will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing as required by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
