Hilltop Holdings Inc. (NYSE:HTH) is a Texas-based diversified financial holding company specializing in banking, mortgage origination, and financial advisory through its wholly owned subsidiaries, PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, and HilltopSecurities.

Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Sr. Security Engineer who will be responsible for designing and implementing technical security controls to ensure the security of Hilltops information systems. The Senior Security Engineer identifies gaps in technical controls that contribute risk to the organization and provides recommendations to address them.

  • Application Security
  • Cryptography / PKI
  • Securing Cloud Services

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert for assigned areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of security principles.
  • Designs, builds, and implements technical controls and processes for the enterprise.
  • Monitors technical controls and measures effectiveness.
  • Produces solution design and project planning documentation, e.g., architecture diagrams and detailed implementation plans / timelines.
  • Collaborates across lines of business to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Executes technical delivery and configuration of solutions.
  • Ensures technical delivery and configurations meet security goals of various system deployments.
  • Produces thorough and accurate run books and other system documentation.
  • Analyzes data output from security tools to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Develops and documents technology standards.
  • Identifies and communicates risk areas and provides recommendations to address.
  • Contributes to the security strategy in support of the business strategy.
  • Conducts research into established and emerging technologies.
  • Leads or supports after-hours change management / maintenance windows as needed.
  • Performs upgrades to critical systems as needed.
  • Supports the wider Engineering Team as needed.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers.
  • Other functions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of progressive Information Technology or Information Security experience required.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant discipline(s), or equivalent education/experience in Information Technology or Information Security fields.
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Systems Manager), or comparable security certification desired.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities with the ability to develop relevant projects to mitigate security risks to the enterprise.
  • Strong orientation toward problem solving and decision-making in an open and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to drive project deliverables.
  • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, high level of accountability, and attention to detail.
