Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to prepare data analytics for health plan contract renewals, including trend, cost and benchmark analysis for proposal development.

Reporting to the SVP, Payer Relations & Value Based Strategy, the Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in leveraging hospital and professional financial reimbursement data to model managed care and value-based contracts. In addition, responsibilities include analyzing population health and performance improvement metrics, synthesizing and analyzing payer claims data feeds to monitor quality performance such as HEDIS metrics. The Senior Data Analyst should be familiar with external benchmark sources (i.e., Medicare fee schedules, Milliman data, HEDIS, etc.) and facile in extracting publicly available data. This individual will develop and present reports, including excel and tableau, for presentation to finance and medical staff as well as prepare reports for payer meetings. The Senior Data Analyst will use various internal and external data systems and sources and work closely with technical partners to define, implement, and enhance contract reporting and analysis. The Senior Data Analyst collaborates with and provides expert services and advice to cross-functional teams, technical partners, and internal and external analytics and monitoring organizations in support of MMC.

In this role, you will:

Prepare analyses for contract renewals, including trend analysis (volume, spend, unit cost, case mix, LOS); cost analyses; benchmark analyses. Assist in proposal development for contract negotiations.

Analyze population health and performance improvement metrics, analyze payer claims data to monitor quality performance such as HEDIS metrics.

Use external benchmark sources (i.e., Medicare fee schedules, Milliman data, HEDIS, etc.) and facile in extracting publicly available data.

Develop and present reports, including excel and tableau, for presentation to finance and medical staff as well as prepare reports for payer meetings.

Identify, define, procure, synthesize, and manage data from various sources and systems, including but not limited to: internal hospital finance, professional finance and external data such as payer claims and eligibility data as well as Healthix.

Consume and integrate data in a variety of formats, cross-referencing key data elements and normalizing data across sources as required in order to provide accurate and meaningful data sets, for further analysis and use.

Work closely with clinical areas to understand and model financial impact of emerging clinical services and changes in delivery/site of care. Take the lead on modeling bundled payments for specific payers.

Perform other related duties as required.

We require:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in computer science/information technology a plus.
  • 5+ years experience at a health plan, hospital or in a similar healthcare analytical role.
  • Strong communications skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in presentation and/or training.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Coding preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-stakeholder healthcare setting a plus; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
