Essential Job Functions: 1. Conduct patient care services within the Eye Institute clinics, and its affiliates, under the direct or indirect supervision of a qualified residency supervisor.

  1. Act as a preceptor to third and fourth year students within the Eye Institute clinics, under the direct of indirect supervision of a qualified residency supervisor.

  2. Teach, as part of a team, laboratory classes to first, second, and third year students.

  3. Evaluate the performance of students in both laboratory and clinical settings; provide evaluative information to instructors of record.

  4. Perform vision screenings, on and off site.

  5. Act as a resource to students in clinical and didactic matters.

  6. Participate in the after hours "on call" program for emergency patient services.

  7. Assist in the recruitment of qualified residency candidates, and act as a resource for candidates who inquire about the program.

  8. Provide feedback when requested regarding all aspects of the program, to assist in the continuing improvement of the program.

  9. Maintain patient logs for all patient encounters, both on and off campus.

  10. Prepare a paper of publishable quality with the assistance of a qualified supervisor or mentor.

  11. May be required to travel to other local and remote locations.

  12. Other duties as assigned. Marginal Job Functions: 1. Maintain workspace in a neat and orderly manner.

  13. Special projects as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Must possess a true dedication to the pursuit of post graduate learning.

  14. Must demonstrate above average clinical and didactic optometric knowledge and skills.

  15. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  16. Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills.

  17. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information when necessary or appropriate.

  18. Must be ambulatory. Job Requirements: Required Certifications/Licensures: The Resident should acquire a license to practice optometry in the State of Florida with certification to use therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, or the equivalent faculty certificate, within the first six months of the program. Required Education: Doctoral Degree Major (if required): Required Experience: 1. Must have one (1) year experience in primary care clinics.

  19. Must be a graduate of an accredited school or college of optometry. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual Spanish/English and or English/Creole. Is this a safety sensitive position? No Background Screening Required? No Pre-Employment Conditions:
