Come Join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! We are seeking applicants to fill a Registered Nurse position for State Hospital West (SHW) located in Nampa. We offer 8 and 12 hour shifts with some weekends required. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idaho's adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and will be accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This positions offers the opportunity to work with an excellent team of the top health care providers in Idaho. This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Employees will be required to work weekends, holidays, and day shifts.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Perform skilled nursing services in a hospital setting requiring independent clinical judgement.
  • Work with patients or families from various socioeconomic, cultural, emotional, and/or physical needs and may be confused, disoriented, aggressive or hostile.
  • Provide preventative, primary, secondary, and tertiary nursing to individuals.
  • Assess physical and psychosocial health.
  • Instruct and counsel patients, families, and/or caregivers in disease process, self-care, and health promotion techniques.
  • Develop plans of care.
  • Provide case management.
  • Identify, consult, and coordinate with community resources pertaining to health, social, and financial services.
  • Refer clients to community resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.
