Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

GLFHC is currently seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) a RN Telehealth Nurse. Under the supervision of the Customer Support Center Manager and Associate Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Support, the Telehealth Nurse performs all functions necessary to ensure that calls are handled efficiently and professionally, promoting overall customer service and satisfaction. Communicates information, makes recommendations, and verifies patient understanding regarding the patient's healthcare issues and/or concerns. Performs initial phone triage and educates patients on the appropriate use of the health care system based on clinical judgment, established guidelines and patient needs

  • Promptly answers all incoming calls in a polite and professional manner using the appropriate uniformed script.
  • Exercises nursing skill and care in giving advice according to nation guidelines and GLFHC policy, responding with the appropriate standard of care for a specific case -- and documents both care instructions and the patient's responses.
  • Develops an assessment of the patient's problem based on the conversation with the patient. Hears not only what the patient says, but also have the ability to interpret such subtle indications as the tone of voice, hesitations or incomplete responses.
  • Familiar with Nursing standards concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Answers and addresses clinical questions sent by patients via the patient portal.
  • Schedules routine and acute appointments for patients based on their needs.
  • Correctly communicates non-urgent nursing messages to nursing team utilizing the electronic medical record system.
  • Reviews lab results as they come in and determines need for immediate notice to a provider for action.

Requirements

  • Bilingual, (Spanish and English) required
  • Current MA RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.

Education

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
