Reporting to the Assistant Director of Leadership and Involvement, the Student Ambassador for Leadership Trainings will support the goals of the Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) office and the division of Student Success within The New School. This position primarily focuses on the development and support of leadership programs and opportunities through the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, present, promote, and facilitate workshops and events around professional and personal development.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of major office leadership events such as the weekly Narwhal Leadership Institute (NLI), the annual Fall Leadership Retreat, the Spring 'Learn 2 Lead' week, and the Annual Spring Student Leadership Awards.
  • Assist in the marketing plan and promotion of SLI Leadership programs, including review and maintenance of websites and social media accounts. (Examples include but aren't limited to: Narwhal Nation, Instagram, Discord, Google Sites).
  • Participate in, uplift, and promote professional and personal development opportunities offered across departments at The New School.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Student Ambassador will also cross-train and work collaboratively with other Student Leadership and Involvement Student Workers and Volunteers to:

  • Assist and staff the in-person and virtual front desk of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI).
  • Assist with answering telephones, filing correspondence, movie ticket and event sales, registration for SLI events, and running errands on campus.
  • Triage and support visitors to the office.
  • Maintain responsible use of Student Staff Credit Card and submit monthly expense reports.
  • Welcome and support the on-boarding of new student employees.
  • Serves as support staff and an ambassador for SLI during large-scale community events (i.e. Winter Warm-up, Block Party, Grad Week/Fair)
  • Cultivate developmental goals and positional benchmarks with supervisor.
  • Participates in recurring student staff meetings and retreats.
  • Provide a high level of customer service when interacting with students, staff, faculty, community partners, or the general public.
  • Maintain a confidential work environment.

Hourly Range: $15.00 - $19.00
