- Assumes charge of the bus
- Operates according to assigned schedules and routes
- Renders assistance, if needed, when the bus breaks down or is involved in an accident
- Makes neat, legible and accurate transportation records as required
- Rides routes and/or other runs as the supervisor or dispatcher directs - if working at a service center
- Maintains a clean bus externally and internally
- Reports maintenance problems to maintenance foreman promptly
- Attends all required staff developments
- Demonstrates leadership with proper attendance and punctuality
- Follows the chain of command as noted in the organizational policy
- Uses time wisely to ensure productivity and efficiency
- Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) preferred
- At least 21 years of age required
- Ability to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements
- Must be able to drive a vehicle with Air-Brakes
- Type 3 driving record that meets the District's standard for operations of motor vehicles
- Ability to pass the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam
- Meet all state (TEA) qualifications for school bus drivers
- Competency to complete required bus driver safety training
- Exceptional communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writing - Bilingual preferred
Non-CDL/CDL Permit $15.00 per hour
CDL no endorsements $23.78 per hour
