In collaboration with hardware and systems engineers, develop computational models of PECVD and ALD reactors (fluid flow and transport of species, and how they affect critical process parameters).
Develop computational models of complex geometries in COMSOL for multiphysics, thermo-mechanical, and structural simulations.
Provide innovative, impactful, and scalable solutions to hardware and process challenges with the aid of simulations.
Apply Mechanical Engineering principles to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on products to ensure design requirements are met.
Develop design of experiments, and conduct lab experiments to verify and validate simulation results using quantitative measures.
Develop automated computational models and/or reduced order codes for a broader engineering use wherever applicable.
Document results and generate technical reports and presentations. Present findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
Participate in failure investigations of components and systems, synthesize information, and assist in root cause analysis via modeling and simulations.
Document and build upon the body of knowledge with published best known methods that aid all modelers.
Define simulation project requirements and objectives, generate statements of work, define timelines, and ensure on-time completion of projects.

Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering with focus on CFD and/or Thermal Modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge of at least one of the commercial FEA solvers such as COMSOL (preferred), Ansys, or Abaqus.
- Two years of post-graduate work experience in an applied setting.
- Three years of experience in developing CFD or thermal models with complex geometries in an academic or industrial setting.
- Experience developing codes in Python and/or MATLAB.
- Capable of analyzing data and synthesizing information with a high level of ambiguity.
- Ability to deliver impactful results in tight timelines with supervision.
- Take ownership in solving problems and delivering on commitments.
- Committed to hearing and valuing diverse ideas.
- Highly collaborative, and able to clearly communicate concepts to cross-functional audiences.

Salary and Benefits
CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $105 - $195K
The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
