PURPOSE

To support student achievement by performing highly skilled and technical work in the field of diagnosing and repairing vehicular equipment for school transportation and District vehicles.

This is an advanced level position in the Mechanic series. As a Mechanic Technician, you will be required to have knowledge of the advanced repair methods of automotive, medium duty and heavy-duty vehicles. You will also be required to be proficient in the use of tools, shop equipment, and welding equipment used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and other equipment. You will also be required to locate, diagnose, and repair defects in vehicles and other equipment while maintaining exceptional customer service. Some of the services we perform include but are not limited to: Preventative Maintenance inspections and services, Transmission diagnosis and repair/replacement, Spring bushings, King Pins, Emission system repairs, etc. This position will require that you provide your own hand tools and have possession of, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Class B Oregon's driver's license with applicable endorsements. You must have the ability to obtain and maintain the Oregon Department of Education's (ODE) certification for bus inspection as well as a Master School Bus Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) rating and the EPA 609 Motor Vehicle A/C Certification in the Proper Use of Refrigerants including Recovery, Recycling, and Reclamation.

This position is a safety sensitive job class. Employees in this job classification will be subject to random selection for mandatory alcohol/controlled substance testing (including marijuana).

Hourly Range: $29.49 - $37.67 (Hourly range is based on the 2022-23 range and is subject to change)
