Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Friction Stir Welding parameters and apply to new and unique client applications
- Design and engineer FSW fixturing and other support equipment to ensure sound weld execution
- Provide hands on support to setup and perform Friction Stir Welding
- Able to develop welding projects/solutions for various DoD and commercial customers
- Familiar with standard welding practices, theory, microstructure, methods, heat inputs, cooling rates, etc.
- Able to set up welding processes and trials to determine weld metal characteristics
- Design of experiments and process modeling is a plus
- Determine appropriate mechanical testing and/or microstructure analyses of welds and weld joints
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Welding Engineering with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience
- Basic understanding of materials and joining processes
- Friction Stir Welding experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of welding and fabrication background (if no experience, willingness and aptitude to learn)
- 1-2 years of Friction Stir Welding experience (if no experience, willingness and aptitude to learn)
- Robotic welding experience (if no experience, willingness and aptitude to learn)
- Creative and innovative in joining technologies/materials
- Enjoy research and development type efforts
- Interest in artificial intelligence
- Interest in learning project management techniques
